Friday, Oct 23
optional activities
As promised, we want to circulate a list of optional activities that we are planning for Friday, October 23. This is principally a chance to get to know one another before the “big day” and showcase some of our favorite aspects of the island.
We want to reiterate that these are indeed optional – everyone has a different vacationing style, and you are in no way obligated to partake. There are a multitude of sights to see and things to do on the island (see the map of recommendations for more ), and this can absolutely include just lounging by the pool.
In any event, remember that you are invited to our welcome get-together later in the day from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM at the wedding venue (no need to RSVP to that!)
We invite you to review the activities below, and if you do decide to join, please complete the form by Sunday, October 11.
Make sure to share your WhatsApp number in the form so we can coordinate/communicate additional details for the selected activities. WhatsApp works best for a mix of German, Spanish, and American phone numbers, so consider downloading the free app if you have not already.

Have you ever wanted to explore a Spanish island with a German race car driver (vroom vroom zoom zoom) as your tour guide? Now is your chance! Join father-of-the-bride Götz Müller for an auto tour of Mallorca! He doesn't just have experience racing on the German Autobahn, but also 30 years of experience guiding car groups through the Alps. He is very familiar with the beach boulevards, winding roads, and mountain passes on the island and has a particular route in mind with Cap de Formentor as the final destination.
Meeting Point: Wedding Venue (Sa Franquesa Nova)
Departure Time: 10:30 AM
Return Time: ~ 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Notes:
Planned lunch stop with orders at your own expense
No gas stops planned, so come prepared with at least half a tank

= or a hybrid of squash and tennis for our American audience!
Have you ever wanted to put yourself in a position to potentially catch a glimpse of retired tennis legend and 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal with his shirt off? Now is your chance! We are planning to reserve padel courts at the nearby Rafa Nadal Academy for 1.5 hours (11:30 AM – 1:00 PM) of casual 2:2 competition. While the game of padel is more similar to squash/tennis, the sport is often compared to pickleball because they share an important trait: very easy to pick up! So this activity is open to all, including the little ones.
Meeting Point: Wedding Venue (Sa Franquesa Nova) – 15 minute drive from the padel courts.
Departure Time: 11:00 AM
Return Time: ~ 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM
Cost: ~10 Euro/person (includes court time and racket rental)
Notes:
Optional lunch on site after padel games at your own expense

Have you ever wanted to be mildly confident in your cycling fitness only to go on a ride with a Mallorcian who puts in miles (or kilometers) on the island every day and wonder why you can’t keep up? Now is your chance! Join Mallorca local Toni Vadell to explore the island on two wheels. Mallorca is a world-class cycling destination, and October in particular is an ideal time to ride in the Balearics. Depending on the sign-ups, we will break into smaller groups of 6-8 people (so you do not need to keep up with Toni) with different paces and distances / routes. Everyone joining this activity should be comfortable riding a road bike and sharing the pavement with occasional cars.
Meeting Point: Wedding Venue (Sa Franquesa Nova) – bikes delivered here
Departure Time: ~ 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM
Return Time: Flexible, with the latest return ~ 3:00 PM.
Cost: ~ 40 Euro/day bike rental
Notes:
Indicate on the form if you would like to extend the bike rental to 2 days (October 23-24) so you can go on a ride the morning of the wedding
Water bottles, pumps, and repair kits generally available, but you are welcome to bring your own. All bikes have bottle cages
Opportunities for coffee/drinks and snacks along the way, but we recommend packing your preferred fuel and nutrition for the ride
While we prefer to ride in a group, you are welcome to adventure on your own - either way, we are happy to facilitate a bike reservation for you.

Have you ever wanted to make relaxing on the beach a little more strenuous? Now is your chance! This activity will center on the Artà Peninsula (Península de Artà or Península de Llevant), a beautiful national park hugging the coastline with many beach lounging and hiking opportunities – or a combination of the two. There will likely be interest in all of the above (and different lengths of hikes), so kids/babies are welcome. The Artà Peninsula is located 30-45 minutes from the wedding venue, with plenty of sightseeing opportunities in between.
Meeting Point: Wedding Venue (Sa Franquesa Nova) or parking area near Artà Peninsula
Departure Time: ~9:30 - 10:00 AM (or meet at the Artà Peninsula)
Return Time: ~ 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Notes:
Lunch is self-organized. Some may wish to picnic on the beach or pack snacks for the trail, while others may want to stop at a restaurant on the way back
Let us know if you plan on meeting at the wedding venue or join the group at the Artà peninsula. A specific meeting point will be decided via the group chat.
